Madhapur Factory Fire Brings Battery Risk Into Focus

Firefighters respond to a Madhapur factory fire in Hyderabad

A fire broke out at a private company manufacturing anti-drone testing equipment in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area on Sunday evening, with three fire tenders taking nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control. No casualties were reported.

According to police, the fire was first noticed by security personnel and local residents, who alerted the company’s management. Police teams reached the premises after receiving information and informed the fire department.

Three fire tenders from nearby fire stations were deployed to the site and began firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control after a couple of hours, police said.

The company is involved in manufacturing anti-drone testing equipment. Police said the electricity supply to the premises had been suspended on Saturday for transformer repair work. Officials suspect that the interruption may have affected the facility’s cooling system, potentially causing batteries to overheat and catch fire.

However, the suspected link between the power interruption and the fire has not been established. Police said the exact cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained.

The extent of damage to the premises and equipment had also not been assessed, officials said. Further details are expected after the authorities complete their assessment of the site and determine how the fire started.
