A Beed road accident killed five members of a family and critically injured another person when a Maharashtra State Road Transport bus collided head-on with their car near Shindewadi Phata in Majalgaon on Sunday morning, according to a report by Navbharat Times. The family was travelling to Tuljapur for pilgrimage when the crash occurred on the Khamgaon–Pandharpur National Highway.
The collision took place at around 11 am in the Majalgaon area of Beed district. The car occupants were reportedly travelling together for darshan when the vehicle was struck by the state transport bus. Five people died at the scene, while one person sustained critical injuries, the report said.
The crash involved a Maharashtra state transport bus, commonly referred to as a red bus, and the car carrying the family. The impact was severe enough to destroy much of the car and badly damage the front section of the bus. The force of the collision left the vehicles heavily damaged on the highway.
A private CCTV camera installed along the roadside captured the incident, according to the report. Footage from the camera showed the collision and the immediate aftermath. People gathered at the location after the crash, as the damaged vehicles remained at the site.
The incident occurred on a highway used to connect destinations in Maharashtra, including routes towards Pandharpur and Khamgaon. The report identified Shindewadi Phata near Majalgaon as the crash location but did not provide further details about the condition of the road, the speed of either vehicle, weather conditions or the identity of the deceased and injured person.
The report also did not specify whether any formal action had been announced by the police or the state transport authorities, or whether the CCTV footage had been taken up as part of an investigation. It identified the collision as a head-on crash between the bus and the car and stated that one person remained critically injured after the incident.
