Applications digitised under Jharkhand’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls crossed 14 lakh on Friday, with 8,246 forms added in a single day as the claims and objections window moves towards its October 31 deadline.
Data released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday showed that the cumulative number of digitised applications rose to 14,01,009 from 13,92,763 till Thursday. Form-6 applications for fresh enrolment accounted for most of the latest additions, followed by forms seeking corrections or changes in electoral records.
The day’s additions included 5,612 Form-6 applications, 266 Form-7 applications and objections related to deletion of names, and 2,368 Form-8 applications for corrections or shifting of entries. No new Form-6A application for overseas electors was digitised on Friday.
Form-6 applications accounted for 8,43,064 of the cumulative total. Form-8 applications stood at 5,35,868, while Form-7 applications and objections totalled 21,958. The number of Form-6A applications remained unchanged at 119.
The figures cover applications digitised during the revision process and do not yet provide a complete account of the cases that have been examined or resolved. The latest bulletin did not specify how many applications had been disposed of, how many hearings had been completed or how many cases were pending.
Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said data on notices issued in cases involving discrepancies and applications disposed of after hearings was also being digitised. “A clear picture will emerge in another seven to eight days, tentatively by October 26,” he said.
The claims and objections period will remain open until October 31. Electors can use the process to seek fresh enrolment, request action related to deletion, correct details or shift their electoral entries. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 30.
The difference between the application tally and the eventual number of accepted changes will become clearer after scrutiny, notices and hearings are completed. Until then, the daily digitisation figures show the scale of the response but not the final status of individual claims, objections or corrections.
The next official update is expected to include details of notices issued, hearings conducted and cases disposed of, with the Chief Electoral Officer indicating that a clearer position should be available around October 26.
