Southern Railway has announced two one-way express special trains from Chennai Egmore to Mangaluru Central and from Mangaluru Central to Rameswaram to manage additional passenger congestion. The services are scheduled to operate on October 18 and 19, with the second train departing from Mangaluru early on October 19.

Train number 06036, the Chennai Egmore–Mangaluru Central one-way express special, is scheduled to reach Mangaluru Central at 7.45 pm on October 18. The announcement did not provide a departure time from Chennai Egmore in the supplied details.

Train number 06142, the Mangaluru Central–Rameswaram express special, will leave Mangaluru Central at 4.15 am on October 19 and is scheduled to reach Rameswaram at 7.30 pm the same day. The service is intended to provide additional capacity for passengers travelling from the coastal Karnataka hub towards southern Tamil Nadu.

The Rameswaram-bound train will stop at Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kannur, Thalassery, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur Junction, Palakkad Junction, Palakkad Town, Kollengode, Pollachi Junction, Udumalpet, Palani, Oddanchatram, Dindigul Junction, Madurai Junction, Manamadurai Junction, Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram before reaching Rameswaram.

Both special trains will have 21 coaches. According to the railway announcement reported by Prajavani, the composition will include First Class AC, AC Two Tier, AC Three Tier, Sleeper Class and general-class coaches, along with luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

The train announcement is significant for passengers along the coastal Karnataka, northern Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu corridor because the services connect multiple regional centres through a single operational movement. The long list of scheduled stops also gives passengers from smaller towns access to the additional service, although the supplied announcement does not specify ticketing arrangements, fares or reservation availability.

The services are one-way specials rather than a regular timetable change. Passengers will therefore need to check the latest railway information for operational confirmation, booking status and platform details before travelling. The announced milestones are the arrival of train 06036 at Mangaluru Central on October 18 and the departure of train 06142 from Mangaluru Central at 4.15 am on October 19.
