MLC Polling Stations Face Full Audit Across Telangana Constituency

MLC polling stations being verified across Telangana districts before the graduates constituency election

MLC polling stations across nine Telangana districts will undergo 100 per cent physical verification after Hyderabad District Election Officer RV Karnan directed Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to inspect existing polling station buildings and submit rationalisation proposals for the upcoming Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency election.

Karnan issued the direction during a meeting with AEROs held on Saturday to review preparations for the polls. The inspection will check whether any of the buildings currently listed as polling stations have been dismantled or converted for residential use. Officials have been instructed to submit proposals without omissions where changes are required.

Tentatively, 656 polling stations have been identified across Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Hyderabad districts. The proposed verification will therefore cover a geographically extensive graduate constituency spread across urban, suburban and rural areas.

The exercise is focused on confirming that polling locations listed for the election remain physically available and suitable for use. Any changes identified during the inspection are expected to be reflected in rationalisation proposals submitted by the election authorities. The report did not specify how many existing polling stations may require relocation or alteration.

Karnan also directed AEROs to communicate the schedule for the de novo preparation of electoral rolls for the constituency to political parties. They have been asked to conduct meetings with recognised political parties and their district-level representatives as part of the electoral roll process.

The Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency covers the nine districts listed by the district election administration. With 656 polling stations tentatively identified, the physical verification and electoral roll schedule will be key administrative steps before the polling arrangements are finalised. The report did not provide a final polling date or deadline for completing the inspections.
