Delhi Traffic Advisory Tightens Access to CR Park Until October 20

Delhi traffic advisory near CR Park roads during evening Durga Puja restrictions

The Delhi Traffic Police has imposed traffic restrictions in several parts of south Delhi during Durga Puja, with disruptions expected every day from 4 pm to midnight until October 20. The measures cover Chittaranjan Park, Greater Kailash-II and several major roads used by commuters travelling through the area.

According to an advisory shared by the Delhi Traffic Police on X, the restrictions came into effect on October 16. Visitors travelling to puja pandals in residential areas have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time and follow the instructions of traffic personnel.

The affected areas include the internal roads of Chittaranjan Park and Greater Kailash-II, where the police expect heavy crowds and congestion during the evening. The traffic restrictions are intended to manage movement around puja pandals located inside residential neighbourhoods, where roads are narrow and dedicated parking space for visitors is not available.

Several key corridors may also experience slower movement or traffic diversions. These include the Outer Ring Road stretch from Vasant Vihar to Modi Mill Flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, August Kranti Marg, MB Road, Guru Ravidas Marg, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Josip Broz Tito Marg.

Traffic movement is also expected to be affected on the route between Khanpur and DDA Flats-Kalkaji towards Jamia Hamdard. Restrictions will further affect the stretches from Khanpur to Chirag Delhi Flyover and from Chirag Delhi Flyover to Moolchand Flyover during the specified hours.

The traffic police has advised people to use public transport instead of private vehicles while visiting the puja venues. For those travelling to Chittaranjan Park, the advisory recommends using the Delhi Metro to avoid parking-related difficulties and reduce vehicle pressure on the surrounding roads.

The designated drop-off points for taxis and auto-rickshaws are at Greater Kailash and Nehru Enclave Metro stations. Visitors have been asked to get down at these locations and proceed towards the pandals from there. The police has also urged commuters to remain at the designated drop-off points rather than attempting to take private vehicles into the congested residential lanes.

Drivers have been warned against parking at no-parking locations or near puja pandals. The advisory said unauthorised parking could further obstruct movement in neighbourhoods that already have limited road width and no parking capacity for large numbers of visitors.

The restrictions will remain in force each day until October 20, from 4 pm to midnight. The Delhi Traffic Police has asked commuters to leave early, keep additional travel time and cooperate with personnel deployed in the affected areas.
