Delhi Traffic Advisory: CR Park Roads Face Restrictions Until October 20

Delhi traffic advisory affecting roads near CR Park during evening Durga Puja celebrations

Delhi Traffic Advisory measures will affect roads around Chittaranjan Park and Greater Kailash-2 until October 20, with private vehicles restricted from entering the areas between 4 pm and midnight during Durga Puja celebrations, according to a report by Jagran citing the traffic police.

The restrictions have been announced because large numbers of devotees are expected to visit pandals located inside residential colonies. The traffic police have warned that congestion may spread beyond the internal roads of CR Park and Greater Kailash-2 to several major corridors in southern Delhi during the evening hours.

The affected road network includes the Outer Ring Road stretch between Vasant Vihar and the Modi Mill flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg near CR Park, August Kranti Marg between Ring Road and the Outer Ring Road, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road between Khanpur and Jamia Hamdard. Portions of Guru Ravidas Marg, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Josip Broz Tito Marg may also experience traffic disruption.

Traffic pressure is expected to be particularly high because the Durga Puja pandals are situated within residential neighbourhoods where roads are relatively narrow. The report said these areas also have limited parking capacity for visitors arriving in private vehicles, increasing the likelihood of roadside parking and blockages.

The traffic police have advised visitors travelling to CR Park to use the Delhi Metro instead of private vehicles. Passengers can get down at Greater Kailash or Nehru Enclave metro stations and walk to the nearby pandals. The advisory also asks motorists to avoid unnecessary travel through the affected corridors and allow additional time for their journeys.

Unauthorised parking has been prohibited in the affected areas. Vehicles found obstructing traffic or parked in violation of the restrictions may be removed, and action may be taken under the applicable rules, the report said. Motorists have been asked to follow instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed in the area.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in force daily from 4 pm to midnight through October 20. The traffic police have advised commuters to check road conditions before starting their journeys and use alternative routes where necessary, particularly during the evening period when footfall at the pandals is expected to rise.
