Greater Noida illegal construction in the Surajpur Industrial Area will face immediate demolition action after Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi directed officials to remove unauthorised structures and take action against those responsible.
The order was issued during a meeting at the Invest UP auditorium in PICUP Bhawan, where industrialists also raised concerns about delays and alleged irregularities in obtaining completion certificates from the Noida Industrial Development Authority. The minister directed officials to act against intermediaries allegedly helping applicants secure certificates after pointing out deficiencies in their documents.
According to the report presented at the meeting, entrepreneurs applying for completion certificates are often informed about multiple rules and shortcomings in their paperwork. However, some applicants allegedly obtain the same certificates after contacting individuals linked to officials. The minister ordered strict action against people involved in such practices.
A member of Laghu Udyog Bharati also complained about alleged illegal activity in the Surajpur Industrial Area. The complaint referred to unauthorised huts being built by some people, electricity connections being taken there and the area being used without permission. In response, Nandi directed the concerned officials to immediately demolish the illegal construction and take strict action against those responsible.
The meeting also covered the availability and allocation of industrial land in Uttar Pradesh. Nandi said the state had created a land bank of 70,000 acres and was working to develop industrial areas in all districts. He added that 18,000 acres had been arranged through the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority. Work had also started in Jaunpur and Ghazipur in eastern Uttar Pradesh, according to the minister.
Laghu Udyog Bharati state president Ravindra Singh raised the shortage of land for setting up industries in most districts. The organisation also questioned the auction-based allotment of plots by development authorities, arguing that the process was against the interests of micro and small industries and seeking allotment through a lottery system.
Additional Chief Secretary for MSME Shashi Bhushan Sushil said priority would be given to allotting plots to industries that need to be relocated. Entrepreneurs also reported difficulties in obtaining no-objection certificates after building plans had been approved. Officials said a system under which building plans are submitted and approved along with no-objection certificates from all departments would be introduced soon.
