Kasara Rail Block Disrupts Locals, Vande Bharat and Express Trains

Kasara rail block affecting Central Railway tracks and Mumbai suburban services

The Kasara rail block announced by Central Railway for infrastructure work will disrupt suburban, Mail and Express services between October 17 and the early hours of October 18, with no local trains operating between Asangaon and Kasara during the main overnight work period.

The block is scheduled from 2.30 pm on October 17 to 3 am on October 18 as part of a 12-day special traffic and power block connected to the Asangaon-Kasara third-line project and the extension of the Up Yard line towards Igatpuri. The wider work is being carried out from October 7 to October 18.

Kasara-bound suburban trains departing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus between 12.30 pm and 9.30 pm on October 17 will terminate at Asangaon. The CSMT-Kasara local scheduled to leave at 10.47 pm will terminate at Vasind, while the 12.08 am service on October 18 will terminate at Khadavli. Services that normally originate at Kasara will instead begin from Asangaon during the affected period.

Central Railway has listed the last and first local services around the block. The last local towards Kasara before the work will leave CSMT at 11.42 am on October 17, while the last local towards CSMT will depart Kasara at 1.31 pm. After the block, the first local towards CSMT will leave Kasara at 3.51 am on October 18, followed by the first service towards Kasara from CSMT at 4.19 am.

Twelve Mail and Express services have also been cancelled on specified dates. These include the CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat services, the CSMT-Manmad Panchavati Express, the CSMT-Dhule Express, the CSMT-Amravati Superfast Express and the CSMT-Balharshah Express. Other services, including the Nanded-CSMT Vande Bharat, Hingoli-CSMT Janshatabdi and Nanded-CSMT Tapovan Express, will be short-terminated or will originate from Nashik Road or Manmad.

Several long-distance trains will be rescheduled or diverted through alternate routes, including Vasai Road, Thane, Pune, Manmad, Jalgaon and Nandurbar. Services affected by revised departure timings include the Dadar-Sainagar Shirdi Express, LTT-Shalimar Jnaneshwari Express, CSMT-Nagpur Duronto Express, CSMT-Howrah Mail, CSMT-Amritsar Express and LTT-Gorakhpur services. Some trains will also be regulated en route, including at Igatpuri and within the Bhusaval division.

Central Railway said the third-line connection between Asangaon and Kasara, along with the Up Yard extension towards Igatpuri, is intended to separate suburban and long-distance train movements. The railway administration said the completed infrastructure would improve operational flexibility, allow smoother regulation of trains and create capacity for additional services. Passengers travelling beyond Asangaon have been advised to check their train status and plan their journeys before departure.
