Delhi Traffic Advisory: Avoid CR Park Routes During Durga Puja

Delhi traffic advisory near CR Park during Durga Puja celebrations

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid several roads around Chittranjan Park and Greater Kailash Part-2 between 4 pm and midnight from 16 to 20 October, when Durga Puja celebrations are expected to attract large crowds. Private vehicles carrying visitors will not be allowed to enter the residential areas hosting the pandals during these hours.

The advisory covers CR Park and Greater Kailash Part-2, where large Durga Puja pandals are set up inside residential colonies. Visitors and other travellers have been advised to use the Delhi Metro instead of private vehicles to reduce congestion around the celebration areas.

Traffic is expected to remain heavy on the Outer Ring Road stretch between Vasant Vihar and the Modi Mill flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, August Kranti Marg, MB Road, Guru Ravidas Marg, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Josip Broz Tito Marg. The advisory also lists the Khanpur–Jamia Hamdard Road, the DDA Flats–Kalkaji–Jamia Hamdard route, the stretch from Khanpur to Chirag Delhi flyover, the Chirag Delhi flyover–Moolchand flyover corridor and internal roads in CR Park as affected areas.

The restrictions are intended to manage visitor movement around the pandals and prevent traffic congestion in neighbourhood streets. The traffic police has asked motorists to leave home with additional travel time and follow instructions issued by personnel deployed at the affected locations.

Visitors have also been warned against parking on roads, footpaths or near the pandals. Vehicles found parked in these areas may face legal action and could be towed, according to the advisory.

For those travelling to CR Park by taxi or auto-rickshaw, the traffic police has advised getting down at Greater Kailash or Nehru Enclave Metro stations and walking to the pandals. The guidance is aimed at keeping private and hired vehicles away from the narrow residential streets around the celebration venues.

CR Park and Greater Kailash Part-2 are among Delhi’s prominent Durga Puja destinations, drawing visitors from across the national capital region during the festival. The restrictions will remain in force daily from 4 pm to midnight through 20 October, after which the notified festival-period arrangements are scheduled to end.
