GMR Aero Technic MoU Expands Hyderabad’s Aircraft MRO Capabilities

GMR Aero Technic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Canada-based Corporation Logic Air Inc. to collaborate on aircraft modification, engineering, certification and obsolescence solutions for airlines, lessors and cargo operators in India and international markets.

The partnership brings together GMR Aero Technic’s maintenance, repair and overhaul infrastructure with Logic Air’s aircraft modification, certification and engineering capabilities. The companies said they will work on turnkey modification solutions that can be integrated into planned maintenance events, aircraft redelivery programmes and aircraft transition checks.

The collaboration will also examine the validation, adaptation and embodiment of eligible Logic Air Supplemental Type Certificates and modification data for Indian and international operators. The companies have identified opportunities in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, in addition to the Indian market.

For Hyderabad’s aviation services ecosystem, the agreement links aircraft maintenance infrastructure with modification and certification work that is often required when aircraft change operators, undergo major maintenance or are prepared for new operational requirements. The partners said they would jointly pursue opportunities with airlines, aircraft lessors and cargo operators rather than limiting the arrangement to a single customer or aircraft programme.

The MoU also covers efforts to strengthen local capabilities in installation, training, sustainment and through-life support in India. These activities are intended to support aircraft modification work beyond the initial installation stage, although the companies have not announced specific training numbers, investment amounts, project values or implementation timelines.

Ashok Gopinath, president and Accountable Manager at GMR Aero Technic, said the agreement brought together complementary strengths that could create value for customers and the wider aviation ecosystem. He said Logic Air’s modification, engineering and certification expertise, combined with GMR Aero Technic’s MRO infrastructure and execution capabilities, would support integrated solutions alongside maintenance and aircraft transition programmes.

The agreement is structured around project-specific commercial arrangements, which means the MoU itself does not establish a single fixed contract value or a defined delivery schedule. The companies are expected to develop individual commercial arrangements for specific customer engagements.

GMR Aero Technic and Logic Air said the collaboration would support customers across India and international markets, with particular attention to the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. The next stage will involve identifying aircraft modification and certification opportunities with airlines, lessors and cargo operators and developing project-specific arrangements for those engagements.
