Chennai Special Buses Get Five Boarding Points for Ayudha Pooja

Chennai special buses at a busy city boarding point during the Ayudha Pooja holiday rush

Chennai special buses for passengers travelling during the Ayudha Pooja holiday rush will operate from five designated locations across the city and its outskirts, with services divided by destination. Passengers have been advised to verify their boarding point, bus timings and ticket details before leaving home.

According to a Daily Thanthi report, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Department has arranged services from the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus at Kilambakkam, a temporary stand near the CMDA Climate Park at Kilambakkam, the temporary bus stand at Maraimalai Nagar, and the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Bus Terminus at Koyambedu. The arrangements are intended to reduce confusion and manage the increase in intercity travel during the extended holiday period.

The main Kilambakkam terminus will handle buses travelling through the Tindivanam route to destinations including Villupuram, Ulundurpet, Virudhachalam, Tittakudi, Tirukoilur, Kallakurichi, Salem and Coimbatore. Services will also connect passengers to Panruti, Neyveli, Vadalur, Chidambaram and Kattumannarkoil in the Cuddalore region, as well as Puducherry and Cuddalore.

Passengers travelling to southern Tamil Nadu can board buses from the main Kilambakkam terminal for Tiruchy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Tiruchendur and Sengottai. Other services from the terminal will connect Dindigul, Palani and Pollachi. Passengers have been asked to confirm the relevant platform and departure details at the terminal before boarding.

The temporary Kilambakkam stand near the CMDA Climate Park will operate services via Guindy to Tiruvannamalai, Polur, Chetpet and Vandavasi. Travellers heading to these towns will need to check whether their bus departs from the temporary stand rather than the main Kilambakkam terminus.

The temporary stand at Maraimalai Nagar will operate on a trial basis for services to the Cauvery delta region. Buses from there will connect passengers to Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam and Thanjavur. Free connecting buses will operate between the MTC bus terminus at Kilambakkam and the Maraimalai Nagar temporary bus stand to help passengers reach the correct boarding location.

Koyambedu will handle services to destinations along the East Coast Road, including Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Velankanni. The terminus will also operate buses to Kancheepuram, Vellore, Hosur, Bengaluru, Tiruttani and Tirupati.

With services spread across multiple locations, passengers have been advised to check their tickets and bus details carefully before starting their journey. The transport department has also urged travellers to reach the correct terminal well ahead of departure to avoid delays and last-minute confusion during the holiday rush.
