Bengaluru traffic restrictions and parking curbs will be enforced around M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the India-West Indies T20 match scheduled on October 17, with traffic police announcing no-parking zones, designated parking arrangements and fixed entry and exit gates for spectators.
The restrictions are intended to prevent congestion and keep vehicle movement orderly around the stadium during the match. Parking will not be allowed on both sides of Queens Road between Balekundri Circle, Queens Circle and CTO Junction, as well as on MG Road between Queens Circle and Anil Kumble Circle.
Other affected stretches include the link road between MG Road and Cubbon Road, Lok Bhavan Road, T Chowdiah Road, Race Course Road and both sides of Central Street Road. On Cubbon Road, parking will be prohibited between CTO Circle and Manipal Circle, including the stretch from Kaveri Emporium Junction to Dickenson Junction.
The restrictions also cover both sides of Kamaraj Road; St Mark’s Road between Ashirvadam and Anil Kumble Circle, including the stretch from SBI Junction to Cash Pharmacy; Museum Cross Road between MG Road and St Mark’s Road; and Kasturba Road between Hudson Circle and Queens Circle.
Within Cubbon Park, parking will not be permitted on King Road, in front of the Press Club and near Bal Bhavan. No-parking restrictions will also apply on Lavelle Road between Queens Circle and Vittal Mallya Road Junction, and on Vittal Mallya Road from Siddalingaiah Circle to Bishop Cotton Girls’ School and from Siddalingaiah Circle to RRMR Circle.
The traffic police have stated that designated parking facilities will operate from 11am to 9pm. St Joseph’s Indian High School is among the parking facilities identified in the announcement. Spectators have been advised to use the designated arrangements rather than attempt to park on roads surrounding the stadium.
Stadium access will be regulated through specified gates. Entry is planned through gates E1-E3 and E18, E19, E22 and E23 on Cubbon Road, while gates E11-E17 will be accessed from the link road. The gate plan is intended to distribute spectator movement across the stadium’s surrounding approaches.
The restrictions place a large network of central Bengaluru roads under temporary traffic management during the match period. Commuters using MG Road, Cubbon Road, Queens Road, St Mark’s Road, Kasturba Road, Lavelle Road and Vittal Mallya Road will need to account for parking bans and possible congestion near the stadium. The traffic police’s designated parking and gate arrangements will remain operational during the announced 11am-to-9pm window.
