Gaya Durga Puja Traffic Plan Brings Major Road Restrictions

Gaya Durga Puja traffic plan with vehicles diverted near a crowded festival route

Gaya’s Durga Puja traffic plan will restrict heavy vehicles, regulate passenger movement and divert goods carriers across Gaya and Bodh Gaya until Wednesday, as the district administration prepares for increased festival crowds and vehicle congestion. The measures cover key roads, town-entry points, parking control and designated drop gates.

Heavy vehicles will be barred from entering Gaya city between 6 am and 3 am each day during the restriction period. The same restriction will apply to heavy vehicles entering Gaya town from Sikaria Mor. The administration has also prohibited the movement of all vehicles, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers, on GB Road and Ramna Road.

Additional restrictions will operate on routes from Nadraganj towards Peermansoor, Kirani Ghat towards Dukhharni Temple and Ramna Road. No vehicle will be permitted to enter GB Road beyond the collectorate roundabout, creating a controlled access point on one of the city’s important internal routes.

Autos and e-rickshaws travelling from Sikaria Mor to Gaya railway station will be diverted through Gaya College Mor, Gewal Bigha Mor, Kashinath Mor, Nagmatiya Mor, Railway Hospital and Railway Crossing No. 1. On the return journey, they will use GRP Mor, Bata Mor, Swarajpuri Road, Kashinath Mor and Gewal Bigha Mor.

Goods carriers, including trucks and pickup vans arriving from Patna, will be diverted through Ramshila More, Kujapi Nawada Mor and Mehta petrol pump before proceeding towards their destinations. The diversion is intended to keep larger commercial vehicles away from crowded city routes during the festival period.

The administration will install drop gates at several locations to regulate vehicle entry and manage crowds. These include Gaya College Sports Complex, the collectorate roundabout, Peer Mansoor Mor, Kiranighat, Bata Mor, Nagmatiya Mor, Kashinath Mor, Bhusunda Mor in Ghughritand Mor, Sikaria Mor, Ramshila Mor and Buniyadganj Bypass Mor.

Bodh Gaya will have a separate set of restrictions. Entry for all vehicles from Domuhan, Rajapur Mor and Gandhi Chowk will be restricted between 1 pm and 3 am. Heavy vehicles in Bodh Gaya will face a complete restriction from 6 am to 3 am the following day.

The traffic measures make route-level planning especially important for residents, public transport users, traders and visitors travelling between Gaya city, the railway station and Bodh Gaya. The plan will remain in force through Wednesday, after which normal movement will depend on further instructions from the district administration.
