Rajasthan’s voter registration drive has received 4,80,893 Form-6 applications in the first 14 days, including more than 2.12 lakh applications from people aged 20 and above, according to state election officials. The campaign, launched on October 1, is aimed at enrolling eligible citizens who were left out of the electoral rolls, including young voters.
Data reported by the state chief electoral officer showed that 2,12,947 applications came from people aged 20 and above, while 2,67,946 were submitted by applicants in the 18-19 age group. The figures cover applications received across Rajasthan until October 14.
Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan said the special campaign was launched following directions from the Election Commission of India. Its stated objective is to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of the opportunity to register as a voter, while also bringing other eligible but unenrolled residents into the electoral system.
The scale of applications from people aged 20 and above has drawn attention because it indicates that a substantial number of eligible citizens may not have been included in the rolls during the Special Intensive Revision conducted in the state. The applications are being processed through the electoral registration system, with applicants able to submit Form-6 online or through local election officials.
Eligible citizens can apply through the Election Commission’s voters.eci.gov.in portal or the ECINET platform. Applications can also be submitted through the concerned booth-level officer. Form-6 is used by eligible citizens seeking inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.
The registration campaign comes as the Election Commission has announced a Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in 17 states and Union Territories, including Rajasthan, ahead of January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date. The exercise is intended to enrol eligible voters left out of the rolls and those who will turn 18 by the qualifying date.
Under the announced schedule, polling stations will be rationalised by November 2 and the draft electoral roll will be published on November 12. Citizens will be able to submit claims and objections until December 11. The disposal of claims and objections is scheduled to be completed by December 28, while the final electoral rolls will be published on January 4, 2027.
The registration figures place the focus on the administrative task of keeping electoral rolls current across a large and diverse state. The immediate next steps are the continued processing of Form-6 applications and the preparation of the draft rolls for publication on November 12.
