Lucknow defence manufacturing is set for a major expansion after PTC Industries raised ₹1,800 crore from Indian and international institutional investors to increase production capacity, upgrade technology and develop new projects in the city. The Lucknow-based company announced the fundraise on Tuesday through a qualified institutions placement, or QIP, in which listed companies issue shares to large institutional investors.
PTC Industries issued 8.54 lakh shares at ₹21,060 each. Investor demand exceeded five times the number of shares offered, according to the company, indicating strong participation from domestic and overseas institutions. Fidelity Investments contributed nearly ₹850 crore, while Capital Group invested ₹355 crore and Fidelity International contributed ₹150 crore.
HDFC Mutual Fund, Tata AIA Life Insurance and other financial institutions also participated in the placement. The company said the proceeds would be used to expand existing facilities, establish new manufacturing projects, fund technological upgrades and pursue possible acquisitions.
The fundraise comes as PTC Industries expands its advanced manufacturing facilities at the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. The corridor is intended to support a network of defence manufacturing and related industrial activity across the state. PTC’s investment places specialised metal manufacturing at the centre of Lucknow’s emerging industrial profile, alongside the city’s more established administrative and services economy.
PTC’s subsidiary, Aerolloy Technologies, manufactures specialised titanium and other high-performance metal products used in aircraft, defence equipment and other critical applications. These products require advanced manufacturing capabilities and are intended for sectors where component performance and material specifications are central to production.
The company also operates through Trac Precision Solutions in the United Kingdom, giving PTC an international manufacturing presence. The Lucknow expansion will therefore be connected to a wider company structure that includes both domestic facilities and overseas operations.
PTC Industries chairman and managing director Sachin Agarwal said the response from global investors reflected confidence in the company’s manufacturing capabilities and future growth plans. The company has not provided a project-wise allocation of the ₹1,800 crore in the information available, nor has it specified timelines for each proposed facility expansion, technology upgrade or potential acquisition.
The announcement adds a significant private investment component to the development of Lucknow’s defence manufacturing base. The next steps will involve the company’s implementation of its facility expansion, new project development and technology investment plans at the Defence Industrial Corridor node.
