The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for revising electoral rolls across all Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, with the final voter list due to be published on January 4, 2027. The exercise will determine voter eligibility using January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date and will include changes to polling-station arrangements.
Chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa said the special summary revision would begin with the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations. That process is scheduled to be completed by November 2, 2026, according to the schedule reported by the Times of India.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on November 12. Voters will then have one month, until December 11, to submit claims and objections. These submissions may relate to the inclusion of a name, deletion of an entry or correction of details in the electoral rolls.
The electoral authorities will examine and dispose of the claims and objections by December 28. The final rolls will be published one week later, on January 4, 2027. The sequence creates a defined administrative window between the publication of the draft list and the release of the final version.
The revision will cover all Assembly constituencies in the state. District election officers have been instructed to make the required arrangements and follow the prescribed schedule. The process is intended to update the rolls before the Assembly elections and ensure that eligible voters are included while existing entries requiring correction are addressed.
Rinwa said meetings with recognised political parties would be held at both state and district levels. These meetings will explain the Election Commission’s guidelines and the procedures governing the revision. Political parties are expected to be briefed as the authorities move through polling-station reorganisation, draft publication and the claims-and-objections period.
For voters, the draft-roll publication on November 12 will be the key public checkpoint in the process. It will allow individuals to examine their entries and raise requests concerning inclusion, deletion or correction before the authorities complete their review. The final list will reflect decisions on those submissions after the December 28 disposal deadline.
The schedule places district election officers at the centre of implementation, while the chief electoral officer’s office will coordinate the wider state-level exercise. The next major milestone is the completion of polling-station rationalisation and reorganisation by November 2, followed by publication of the draft electoral rolls on November 12.
