Ahmedabad Container Truck Accident Kills 2 Near Sanathal Bridge

Ahmedabad container truck accident site near Sanathal railway bridge at night

Two young men were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a container truck allegedly parked without safety lights or reflectors near Ahmedabad’s Sanathal railway bridge on the night of October 13, according to a police complaint reported by Gujarat Samachar. Police have arrested the truck driver and begun further investigation.

The crash occurred at about 9.15 pm near the Polaris showroom on the public road below the Sanathal railway bridge, as the motorcycle was travelling from Sanathal towards Ujala. The container truck had reportedly been left on the road without safety markings, parking lights or a redium reflector, making it difficult for approaching motorists to identify the stationary vehicle.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the container truck. The impact caused serious injuries to both riders, identified in the report as 24-year-old Harshadkumar, also known as Ravi, and 20-year-old Shani Baldevbhai Raval. Both suffered severe injuries to their heads and other parts of the body, while the motorcycle was badly damaged.

A 108 emergency ambulance reached the location after the crash. Doctors declared both men dead at the scene, the report said. The incident has drawn attention to the danger posed by heavy vehicles parked on public roads without adequate visibility measures, particularly near bridge approaches and other sections where road users may have limited time to react.

The complaint was filed by Nishlesh Kumar, the younger brother of Harshadkumar. He asked the police to take legal action against the container-truck driver for allegedly parking the vehicle negligently. Based on the complaint, police arrested the driver and initiated legal proceedings.

The reported circumstances place the case within a wider road-safety concern involving stationary commercial vehicles. A truck parked on an active carriageway can become a major collision hazard when it lacks warning signs, lighting or reflective material. The supplied report does not state whether the road had functioning street lighting, whether warning barricades were available or whether the vehicle had broken down before it was parked.

Police investigation is expected to establish the precise circumstances of the crash, including the truck’s position, the visibility conditions at the location and the compliance of the vehicle and driver with applicable road-safety requirements. The case remains under investigation following the driver’s arrest.
