Aadhaar enrolment camps and biometric update services will be available at mandal educational officer offices and junior colleges in Telangana during the Dasara holidays, giving students and the public additional locations to complete pending documentation-related services.
The school education department and Samagra Shiksha have directed officials to organise the facilities during the holidays beginning October 12, according to Samagra Shiksha state project director Dr E. Naveen Nicolas. The arrangement is intended to help children without Aadhaar numbers enrol and students with pending mandatory biometric updates complete the process.
The camps will also provide other applicable Aadhaar services to the public, subject to the guidelines of the Unique Identification Authority of India. The department has specifically instructed officials not to collect unauthorised or excess charges from applicants.
Fees for services must follow rates prescribed by UIDAI, while services exempted from charges must be provided free of cost. The fee instruction is significant for families using temporary camps, where applicants may otherwise have limited clarity about the official cost of enrolment or updates.
Mandal educational officers have been asked to inform headmasters about the dates, schedules and venues of the camps. Headmasters must then communicate the information to students, parents and guardians, with particular attention to children whose mandatory biometric updates are pending.
Mandatory biometric updates are required for certain Aadhaar holders as they move through specified age stages. The announcement does not provide a district-wise list of camp locations or operating hours, and applicants will need to obtain venue and schedule details from their schools or the concerned educational offices.
By placing the services at education department offices and junior colleges during a holiday period, the arrangement is designed to use existing public institutions to reach students and other residents. The department’s instructions also make headmasters and mandal-level officials responsible for ensuring that eligible families receive information about the facilities.
Officials have been directed to maintain compliance with UIDAI rules while operating the camps. The next step is the communication of camp schedules and venues to schools, students, parents and guardians before and during the Dasara holiday period.
