Two young men died after their motorcycle collided with a container truck parked without safety lights or reflective markings near Ahmedabad’s Sanathal Railway Bridge on the night of October 13, according to a police complaint reported by Gujarat Samachar. Police have arrested the truck driver in connection with the crash.
The accident took place at around 9.15 pm near the Polaris showroom as the motorcycle was travelling from Sanathal towards Ujala. The container truck was allegedly parked on the public road after the descent from the Sanathal Railway Bridge without safety lighting, parking lights or redium reflective markings.
According to the complaint, the absence of warning signs or lights meant that the motorcycle struck the rear of the stationary container. The impact caused serious injuries to both riders, including injuries to their heads and other parts of their bodies. The motorcycle was also extensively damaged.
The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Harshadkumar, also known as Ravi, and 20-year-old Shani Baldevbhai Raval. The two men were friends and were travelling together on the motorcycle when the collision occurred.
A 108 ambulance was called to the location after the crash. Doctors at the scene declared both men dead, the report said. The incident has raised a road-safety concern around the risks created when heavy vehicles are left on public roads without adequate visibility measures, particularly near bridge approaches and descents.
Nishleshkumar, the younger brother of Harshadkumar, filed a police complaint seeking legal action against the container truck driver. Based on the complaint, police arrested the driver and began further legal proceedings and investigation.
The supplied report does not provide details about the driver’s identity, the specific charges filed, or whether any additional road-safety measures were subsequently installed at the location. Police investigation into the circumstances of the crash is continuing.
