TGGENCO has suspended B Suresh, Chief Engineer of the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) Construction Stage-I, pending a departmental enquiry into alleged negligence and supervisory lapses in work linked to improving power generation.
The suspension took effect immediately and was ordered after the lapses came to light during review meetings, according to Dr S. Harish, Chairman and Managing Director of TGGENCO. The order said Suresh was found to have been “gross negligent towards duty” and had committed supervisory lapses while discharging his responsibilities as Chief Engineer.
The allegations relate to his role in the planning, monitoring and execution of prioritised works at YTPS Construction Stage-I. The order did not specify the individual projects, activities or operational consequences associated with the alleged lapses. It described the alleged acts as constituting gross misconduct under the applicable APSEB Employees’ Discipline and Appeal Regulations.
YTPS is a major thermal power project in Telangana, and its construction and operational readiness depend on coordinated supervision of engineering, procurement, civil works, equipment installation and commissioning-related activities. The suspension order places the matter within the department’s internal disciplinary process rather than recording a final finding of misconduct.
During the suspension period, Suresh will be paid a subsistence allowance admissible under Regulation 56(1)(a) of the APSEB Service Regulations, Part-I, as adopted by the organisation. Payment will be subject to his submitting a monthly certificate confirming that he is not employed elsewhere.
The order also fixes YTPS Construction at Dameracherla as Suresh’s headquarters during the suspension. He has been instructed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
The departmental enquiry will determine the factual basis of the allegations and whether any disciplinary action is warranted. The order, as reported, does not state a timeline for completion of the enquiry or identify any replacement for Suresh in his construction-stage role.
