Illegal Arms Factory Busted in Kolkata’s Nadial, Weapons Seized

Illegal arms factory Kolkata raid showing seized firearms and ammunition

The Special Task Force of the West Bengal Police has uncovered an illegal arms factory operating inside a house in Ayubnagar under Kolkata’s Nadial police station area, seizing firearms, live ammunition and equipment used to manufacture weapons, according to a report by Sanmarg.

The operation was conducted on the basis of confidential information received by the state police’s Special Task Force. Police said the owner of the house, who is accused of running the illegal facility, escaped before the team reached the premises. The police have identified the suspect and are conducting raids at several locations to arrest him.

The seized material includes two 7 mm firearms, two country-made pistols, several live cartridges and tools used for making weapons, the report said. The recovery indicates that the premises was being used not merely to store arms but also to support their manufacture, although investigators have not yet established how long the unit had been operating.

A case has been registered under the Arms Act at Nadial police station. The case places the operation within the jurisdiction of the local police station while the Special Task Force continues to lead the search for the alleged operator.

Investigators are examining when the illegal arms production began, where the accused received orders for weapons, and how raw materials and manufacturing equipment were procured. Police are also trying to determine whether other people were involved in supplying materials, placing orders or distributing the weapons.

According to police sources cited by Sanmarg, the arrest of the main accused could provide information about the wider network connected to the facility. Until that arrest and further investigation, the identities of any additional participants and the intended destination of the recovered weapons have not been established in the supplied report.

The immediate next step is the continued search for the alleged operator and further investigation into the supply chain, duration and network behind the illegal arms factory. The police are expected to pursue these leads under the Arms Act case registered at Nadial police station.
