Jamshedpur Police Tighten Vigil After Cattle Remains Found Near Shrine

Jamshedpur police patrol near a place of worship after cattle remains were found in Jemco

Jamshedpur police have deployed quick response teams and intensified patrolling in Jemco after cattle remains were found in a sack near a place of worship, prompting a precautionary security response ahead of Durga Puja.

The sack was spotted in bushes near the place of worship late on Monday by local residents under the jurisdiction of Telco police station. The discovery led to a gathering at the spot, with residents seeking action against those responsible.

Teams from the Telco, Golmuri and Burmamines police stations reached the area and brought the situation under control, according to the report. Police subsequently increased surveillance in and around the locality and placed QRT personnel in the area as a preventive measure.

DSP (City) Sanjeev Kumar said investigators were examining CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify those involved. He said police were investigating all angles, including the possibility that the incident was intended to disturb communal harmony during the festive season.

The police response highlights the operational challenge of managing localised security risks around public places of worship and residential areas during major festivals. In this case, the immediate measures have involved coordination between multiple police stations, deployment of rapid-response personnel and review of available surveillance footage.

Kumar said patrolling had been increased in sensitive areas and around the locality. The steps are intended to prevent any escalation and maintain public order while the investigation continues.

East Singhbhum SSP Ehtesham Waquarib also met a delegation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Tuesday. The SSP assured the delegation that appropriate action would be taken soon, according to the report.

The police have not publicly identified any suspects in the supplied account, and the investigation remains underway. CCTV examination and further police inquiries are expected to determine how the sack reached the site and whether the incident was connected to an attempt to create tension during the festive period.
