A 29-year-old man died after an alleged assault at a bar in Delhi’s Inderlok area, prompting the arrest of five people, including the venue’s manager, and the sealing of the establishment by police. Two friends of the victim were also injured in the incident, according to the report and police information cited by Live Hindustan – NCR.
The deceased, identified as Daljeet, was reportedly at the Taurus House Amber Bar with friends on Friday night. Police said a case was registered on the complaint of his wife, Pooja, and that all the accused had been arrested. The police have also seized the club’s CCTV digital video recorder for examination.
The account of what triggered the confrontation differs within the supplied report. One version, attributed to police, says Daljeet allegedly passed near the bar manager’s wife while going to the bathroom, angering the manager, Gaurav. The report says Gaurav then allegedly ordered bouncers to assault him. Another account, attributed to a police source and a Press Trust of India report, says the dispute began after beer was spilled on a woman at the club.
According to the latter account, Daljeet and his friends apologised after the dispute but were allegedly attacked by a bouncer and other staff. The report says the attackers used sticks and glass bottles when the group tried to leave, and allegedly pulled them back inside. Daljeet is reported to have suffered the most serious injuries.
The assault reportedly took place at about 4am on Saturday. His friends took him to his home in Raghubir Nagar, where he collapsed near the entrance, according to the report. Family members later took him to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, where he died during treatment on Sunday. The report identifies him as a cab driver and says he is survived by his wife, an eight-year-old son and his father.
The incident has also triggered action within the local police administration. The Sarai Rohilla police have sealed the bar, while outpost in-charge Yogesh Yadav has been sent to the police lines. The action follows allegations that violence continued inside the venue and that the establishment was operating illegally, as described in the supplied report.
The seizure of the CCTV recorder is expected to form part of the investigation into the sequence of events, the people involved and the extent of the assault. Police are examining the footage while the case proceeds on the basis of the complaint and other available evidence. The report does not specify the sections of the First Information Report or disclose the next court date.
