A 20-year-old engineering student was killed and another seriously injured after a goods vehicle collided with their motorcycle on the Electronics City flyover in Bengaluru early Monday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Rohit from Vijayapura, died at the spot. Harsha, also 20 and the motorcycle rider, suffered serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
The crash occurred at about 3.45 am while the two students were travelling on the flyover. Rohit was seated behind Harsha when the goods vehicle hit the motorcycle, according to the police account reported by Prajavani.
Both students were from the same town and were studying at an engineering college in Bengaluru. They lived in a rented room in Vijayanagar and worked part-time with Porter alongside their studies.
The circumstances place the crash within the daily mobility pressures faced by students and other young workers in the city, including travel during early-morning hours and reliance on two-wheelers for commuting and delivery-related work. The supplied report does not provide details of the goods vehicle driver, the vehicle’s movements before the collision or any police action following the crash.
Police have confirmed the fatality and the injured student’s hospitalisation. Further details about the investigation and the condition of Harsha were not available in the report.
