Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday inaugurated a government school in Dwarka, a 120-student women’s hostel at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) East Campus and high-tech training centres at three industrial training institutes as part of the Seva Sankalp Campaign.
The newly inaugurated co-educational senior secondary school in Sector 16B, Dwarka, will serve students from Classes 6 to 12 and has a planned capacity of 2,000 students. Spread across 8,000 square metres, the campus includes 75 rooms, smart classrooms, science laboratories, an information and communication technology lab, a library, and facilities for sports and music.
The hostel at NSUT’s East Campus will accommodate 120 women students. The facility is intended to support students travelling from distant parts of Delhi and other areas to pursue higher education at the university.
The government also inaugurated three Centres of Excellence at ITI Jahangirpuri, ITI Dhirpur and ITI Narela. The facilities will provide practical training in robotics, industrial automation, digital manufacturing, computer numerical control machining, solar technology and energy efficiency.
The Jahangirpuri centre is expected to benefit around 1,000 trainees each year, while the Dhirpur facility is expected to cater to about 1,200 trainees annually. The announcement places the centres within the government’s wider focus on technical education, skill development and employment-oriented training.
Gupta also laid foundation stones for the G B Pant Integrated College and Polytechnic in Okhla, an Advanced Manufacturing Lab and a Faculty Office Building at NSUT’s main campus. The proposed G B Pant campus is intended to bring engineering, vocational education, skill development and research facilities together at one location.
The planned student capacity at the Okhla institution is expected to rise from around 2,880 to 7,000. The Advanced Manufacturing Lab at NSUT is expected to provide industry-oriented training to around 2,000 students.
The projects combine new school capacity with expanded higher-education, hostel and vocational-training infrastructure. Their stated objective is to connect education and practical technical training with employment opportunities, according to Education Minister Ashish Sood.
During the programme, Gupta also held an interactive session with women student representatives from colleges across Delhi. The students raised concerns and offered suggestions on campus safety, facilities and education quality. Gupta said their recommendations would be considered during preparations for the upcoming Youth Policy, pre-budget consultations and regular dialogues with students.
The government has not provided, in the supplied announcement, details of the total project cost, construction timelines for the facilities whose foundation stones were laid, or the expected dates for their commissioning. Further implementation milestones will determine when the proposed college, polytechnic, laboratory and faculty building become operational.
