Hazaribag Tightens Durga Puja Security with CCTV and Traffic Checks

Hazaribag Durga Puja security arrangements near a crowded Garba event

Hazaribag police have assured stronger security, patrolling and traffic enforcement for Dandiya and Garba events during Durga Puja after a representative of MP Manish Jaiswal sought tighter arrangements for large public gatherings.

Ranjan Choudhary, the MP’s media representative, submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar on Monday, calling for adequate police deployment at the increasingly popular events. The requests included the deployment of women constables, installation and monitoring of CCTV cameras, and strict action against eve-teasing and drunk driving.

The memorandum also sought improved traffic and parking management around venues hosting the celebrations. With Dandiya and Garba programmes attracting growing participation during the festival period, the representation focused on preventing disorder and ensuring that visitors can attend events safely.

Choudhary stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of the festivities and prevent indecent behaviour. The requests place event security alongside traffic regulation, parking control and the prevention of alcohol-related driving offences, all of which require coordination between the police and organisers at crowded venues.

Kumar assured that the police would strengthen patrolling and traffic management during the celebrations. He also assured strict enforcement to support safe festivities. The report did not specify the number of personnel to be deployed, the venues where CCTV cameras would be installed or the detailed traffic diversions planned for individual events.

The police response comes as Dandiya and Garba programmes become an increasingly prominent part of Durga Puja celebrations in Hazaribag. The requested measures are intended to address security risks associated with large gatherings, including harassment, unsafe driving and congestion near event locations.

Further operational details, including venue-wise deployment, parking arrangements and the monitoring system for CCTV footage, were not provided in the memorandum summary. Police patrolling, traffic management and enforcement will form the core of the arrangements assured by the superintendent of police for the festival period.
