Century Plyboards has opened a ₹215-crore plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, adding 60,000 cubic metres of annual capacity immediately and setting up a second phase that will take the plant to 1 lakh cubic metres within six months.
The greenfield facility, spread across 27 acres, is the company’s seventh plywood manufacturing plant in India. Century Plyboards said the plant has been established to serve demand across northern and north-western markets, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
The company expects the Hoshiarpur facility to generate annual revenue of around ₹600 crore when operating at full capacity. It also expects the project to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through manufacturing operations and allied sectors.
The plant’s location is intended to bring production closer to major consumption centres. According to Century Plyboards, Hoshiarpur offers proximity to an established timber and plywood ecosystem, skilled manpower and connectivity to markets across North India. The company said the facility would improve product availability, supply-chain responsiveness and delivery timelines in the region.
The new capacity comes as CenturyPly’s existing plywood manufacturing network is operating at high-capacity utilisation. The company said the Hoshiarpur project would provide flexibility to expand production in line with market demand while strengthening its regional manufacturing presence.
Nikita Bansal, Executive Director of Century Plyboards (India) Ltd, said the commissioning was aimed not only at adding capacity but also at bringing the company closer to customers and making its supply chain more responsive. She said the company would focus on technology-led processes, operational efficiency and consistent quality at the new facility.
The project places Hoshiarpur within a wider industrial and distribution network supplying construction and interior markets across several northern states and the National Capital Region. For plywood buyers and building-material distributors, a production base closer to these markets could reduce dependence on longer-distance movement from the company’s existing plants in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
The company did not provide a detailed commissioning schedule for the second phase beyond stating that capacity is planned to reach 1 lakh cubic metres within the next six months. The next operational milestone will therefore be the phased expansion of production at the Hoshiarpur facility.
