The Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has issued a draft reservation notification for 77 taluk panchayat constituencies across five taluks in Ramanagara district, allowing residents and stakeholders to file objections until 5pm on October 19.
The draft notification covers the taluks of Ramanagara, Channapatna, Magadi, Kanakapura and Harohalli. It was published in the Karnataka State Gazette and sets out the reservation allocation for the constituencies of the taluk panchayats in the district.
Objections must be submitted with supporting documents within 10 days of the notification’s publication in the gazette. Submissions can be made in person or by post to the Secretary, Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, located on the third floor of the Multi-Storeyed Building on Dr Ambedkar Veedhi in Bengaluru.
The department has stated that objections received after the deadline will not be considered. It has also clarified that it will not be responsible for delays in postal delivery that result in an objection reaching the office after the specified deadline.
The notification replaces all earlier notifications issued in connection with the reservation of the taluk panchayat constituencies. The department had recently issued a notification specifying category-wise reservations for each taluk panchayat, according to the report published by Prajavani.
The five taluks together account for 77 taluk panchayat constituencies. The draft stage gives affected residents and other stakeholders a formal opportunity to examine the proposed reservation arrangement and submit documentary objections to the state department before the process is finalised.
The notification does not indicate any extension of the deadline or provide details of the objections received so far. The next stated step is the department’s consideration of objections submitted with supporting documents by 5pm on October 19.
