Chandigarh Parking Revenue Crosses ₹1 Crore Monthly at Peak

Chandigarh’s paid parking network generated between ₹95 lakh and ₹1 crore a month from January to September 2026, with the lot at Elante Mall in the Industrial Area emerging as the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation’s highest-earning site, according to official records reported by The Times of India.

The Elante Mall parking lot collected between ₹16 lakh and ₹20 lakh every month during the period. The Idle parking lot in Sector 26 was the second-highest earner, generating between ₹5.6 lakh and ₹8.1 lakh monthly, while the Sector 35-C parking site collected between ₹5.5 lakh and ₹6.2 lakh.

The figures cover 75 paid parking lots managed by the civic body. Monthly collections were highest in January, at ₹1,07,31,444, followed by June at ₹1,01,75,801 and July at ₹1,01,80,399. Collections were below ₹1 crore in February, April, May, August and September, but remained close to that level in each month.

Parking sites in major commercial and tourist areas also featured among the stronger performers. The Sector 17 Sahib Singh parking lot collected between ₹3.5 lakh and ₹5 lakh per month, while the Sukhna Lake site generated between ₹2.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh. Parking lots in Sector 17, Sukhna Lake, Sector 22, Sector 34 and near Kiran Cinema each recorded monthly collections of between ₹1 lakh and ₹4 lakh, according to the reported data.

The civic body attributed the steady revenue flow to the use of point-of-sale ticketing machines, field monitoring and spot checks on parking attendants. An unidentified source cited in the report said engineering staff had been deployed over the previous couple of months to monitor parking employees and help ensure the full collection of daily revenue from the paid lots.

The monitoring arrangement comes as the corporation continues to manage a large, largely outsourced parking workforce. It deploys 283 workers across the parking sites, with staffing levels varying according to the capacity and operational requirements of each location. Sector 35-C uses the highest number of attendants, with 12 workers, while the Elante Mall and Sector 17 Sahib Singh parking lots employ nine each.

The revenue figures also show how strongly collections are concentrated in high-footfall commercial, entertainment and visitor destinations. The Elante Mall lot alone generated several times more revenue than most other sites, while locations around established markets, public attractions and commercial districts formed the next tier of earners.

The corporation has recently made roughly half a dozen parking sites free for commuters. Despite that change, total monthly collections across the 75-site network remained between ₹95 lakh and ₹1 crore during the nine-month period covered by the records.

The reported figures place ticketing technology, attendance monitoring and site-level enforcement at the centre of Chandigarh’s parking revenue system. The civic body’s next operational focus, according to the report, is continued vigilance over parking staff and daily collections across the managed sites.
