The ₹3,296-crore Radial Road-2 tender in Hyderabad has come under political scrutiny after BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao alleged irregularities in the selection of contractors and demanded that the Telangana government cancel the process.
In an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao alleged that some firms were favoured and awarded contracts after lower bidders were disqualified. He questioned whether the tender process was transparent and whether the technical eligibility criteria had been applied uniformly to all participating companies.
The proposed project involves an 81.15-km greenfield expressway connecting the Outer Ring Road at Budvel with NH-167N near Kodangal. The work has been divided into three packages, with the combined tender value reported at ₹3,296 crore.
Rama Rao’s criticism centres on the speed of the evaluation process. He said the tenders for a project of this scale were evaluated and processed in around five working days, despite 13 bids being submitted. He questioned how the bids could have been examined in such a short period and whether the technical disqualifications were applied consistently.
The allegations, as reported by Deccan Chronicle, have not been independently established in the material available for this report. The account does not include a response from the state government, the tendering authority, the selected contractors or the companies that were allegedly disqualified.
Rama Rao has demanded disclosure of the complete financial details for all three packages. This includes the estimated cost of each package, the prices quoted by bidders, comparative statements prepared during evaluation and the final contract values. He has also called for immediate cancellation of the tender.
The dispute places the procurement process for a major new road corridor under scrutiny before implementation advances. The next public steps would include any response from the Chief Minister or the relevant authority, along with the release of tender evaluation records or financial details sought by Rama Rao.
