The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a Jhandewalan Temple traffic advisory for Navratri, warning that vehicle movement around Rani Jhansi Road and adjoining routes may be affected from 10 to 20 October as large crowds are expected at the temple.
The advisory asks motorists to avoid using Rani Jhansi Road during the period and plan journeys through alternative routes. The traffic police said the expected increase in pedestrian movement around the temple could lead to congestion in the area.
Vehicles travelling from New Delhi towards Karol Bagh have been advised to use Panchkuian Road and proceed through Bagga. Motorists travelling from Tis Hazari towards Vande Mataram Marg and Karol Bagh have been advised to take New Rohtak Road instead.
For traffic travelling from New Delhi towards the Inter-State Bus Terminal, the advisory recommends using Minto Road and Rajghat. The traffic police has also said that vehicles moving from Panchkuian Road will be diverted through Bagga and onwards towards Faiz Road.
Vehicles travelling from New Delhi towards the Rani Jhansi Flyover have been advised to use this diversion route. Traffic arriving from Ajmeri Gate will be directed from the Jhandewalan area towards DB Gupta Road and Faiz Road.
The advisory covers routes that connect central Delhi with Karol Bagh, the Rani Jhansi Flyover, Ajmeri Gate and the ISBT corridor. The restrictions are intended to manage vehicle movement around a major religious gathering while pedestrian traffic rises near the temple.
The Delhi Traffic Police has asked commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use the recommended alternative roads to avoid congestion. The advisory remains in effect from 10 October through 20 October.
