Delhi Traffic Police has advised motorists to avoid Rani Jhansi Road near Jhandewalan Temple from October 10 to 20, as Navratri crowds are expected to affect traffic movement around the temple and adjoining roads.
The advisory was issued in view of the likely arrival of a large number of devotees at Jhandewalan Temple during Navratri. According to the traffic police, the increase in pedestrian movement around the temple could lead to congestion on Rani Jhansi Road and nearby routes.
Motorists travelling from New Delhi towards Karol Bagh have been advised to use Panchkuian Marg and proceed via Bagga. Vehicles travelling from the Tis Hazari area towards Vande Mataram Marg and Karol Bagh have been directed to use New Rohtak Road instead.
For traffic moving from New Delhi towards the Inter-State Bus Terminus, the advisory recommends travelling through Minto Road and Rajghat. The traffic police has also outlined diversions for vehicles approaching the Rani Jhansi Flyover from New Delhi.
Under the diversion plan, traffic from Panchkuian Road will be directed through Bagga and towards Faiz Road. Vehicles coming from the Ajmeri Gate side will be diverted from Jhandewalan towards DB Gupta Road and Faiz Road.
The affected routes connect central Delhi with major residential, commercial and public-transport destinations, including Karol Bagh, Tis Hazari and the ISBT area. The advisory means that motorists using these corridors may need to account for route changes and additional travel time during the festival period.
Delhi Traffic Police has asked commuters to plan their journeys in advance and use the suggested alternative routes to avoid congestion. The advisory will remain applicable through October 20, covering the period identified for heightened movement around the temple.
