Telangana will establish a Centre of Excellence for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to help businesses adopt modern technology, access investment and expand into national and international markets, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said at an MSME summit in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The proposed Telangana MSME Centre will focus on technology adoption, market access and investment linkages. The government also intends to promote products made in Telangana in domestic and overseas markets, according to the minister’s remarks reported by Deccan Chronicle.
Sridhar Babu made the announcement while inaugurating the LUB MSME South India Summit, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (Telangana) at Taj Deccan in Banjara Hills. He said MSMEs played a vital role in industrial development and supported the livelihoods of millions of families.
The minister said the state government had introduced a dedicated MSME policy to strengthen the sector and improve support for small businesses. The announcement places technology, product quality, skills and production capacity at the centre of the government’s stated approach to improving the competitiveness of smaller enterprises.
The government is also planning to organise a monthly MSME Grievance Day, which is intended to provide businesses with a regular channel to raise concerns and facilitate their resolution. The announcement did not specify the forum’s start date, participating departments or the process that will be used to track grievances after they are submitted.
Sridhar Babu also said steps were being taken to improve industrial estates in Hyderabad and its outskirts. The minister did not provide details of the estates covered, the nature of the proposed improvements, the funding arrangements or a completion timeline.
For businesses operating from these estates, the combination of a proposed support centre, a grievance mechanism and planned estate improvements could bring together services that currently affect technology adoption, investment access and day-to-day industrial operations. The implementation details, including the location and structure of the Centre of Excellence, are yet to be announced.
The minister urged MSMEs to focus on product quality, technology adoption, skill development and production capacity to remain competitive. The next steps will depend on the state government’s formal rollout of the proposed centre, the monthly grievance programme and the industrial-estate improvement measures.
