Ahmedabad’s eastern areas recorded two separate killings on Friday, including the fatal stabbing of a young man in Odhav and the death of another man after a dispute over closing a house gate in Narol, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar – Ahmedabad. Police have registered murder cases and begun investigations into both incidents.
In Odhav, Ajitkumar Thakor, who worked in decoration services and lived with his family, was returning after eating dosa with his friends Raman and Yuvraj when three minors allegedly stopped them on a two-wheeler. The report said the confrontation was linked to an earlier dispute involving the alleged harassment of a girl.
The disagreement escalated when the three minors allegedly attacked Thakor with knives. He suffered multiple stab wounds and died in the attack, after which the assailants fled. Thakor’s brother, Ranjit Thakor, subsequently filed a murder complaint against the three minors at Odhav police station.
The second incident took place in Narol after an argument over closing a house gate. Sudhir Yadav had gone to meet his cousin and sister-in-law when he allegedly had a verbal dispute with Radheshyam Paswan. The disagreement reportedly intensified after abuses were exchanged.
Yadav initially left the location with his nephew but later returned with his brother-in-law, Vijaykant, to collect his vehicle. The report said another confrontation then took place involving Paswan and a minor relative. During the dispute, the minor allegedly stabbed Vijaykant in the chest.
Vijaykant was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died during treatment. Narol police registered a case against Paswan and the minor and took both into custody for questioning, according to the report.
The two cases have raised immediate security concerns in Ahmedabad’s eastern parts ahead of Navratri, when police face increased responsibilities in managing public gatherings and movement. Divya Bhaskar – Ahmedabad reported that both incidents involved minors, though the cases are separate and arose from different disputes.
The Odhav and Narol police investigations will establish the sequence of events, the specific roles of those accused and the evidence available in each case. Police action and the further legal process remain the next steps in both matters.
