Parampara Garba Ahmedabad Shifts Outdoors After AC Dome Collapse

Parampara Garba in Ahmedabad will now be held in an open ground at Gopal Farm on S.P. Ring Road from October 12 to 20, after the large air-conditioned dome built for the event collapsed a day before the planned start of the Navratri programme. The organisers said the venue and schedule were changed after prioritising the safety of participants.

Singer Kirtidan Gadhvi announced the revised plan through a social media reel and statement, according to Sandesh. The event was originally planned inside an air-conditioned dome constructed at the S.P. Ring Road venue. Following the collapse, the organisers decided not to rebuild or continue with the enclosed structure for the festival.

The revised event will take place at the open ground of Gopal Farm, also located on S.P. Ring Road. The programme is scheduled to run continuously from October 12 to October 20. The organisers and Gadhvi announced the change after the incident disrupted the original opening schedule.

According to the report, the dome had been built over two months and was designed to provide air-conditioned facilities across an area of approximately 900,000 square feet. It was planned to accommodate around 12,000 people playing garba at the same time.

The structure collapsed before the garba programme began. Several workers who were present at the site sustained minor injuries, the report said. Because the incident occurred before participants had entered for the event, a larger casualty was avoided, according to the account published by Sandesh.

The collapse has also changed the operational arrangements for one of Ahmedabad’s large commercial and cultural gatherings. Instead of using the enclosed air-conditioned venue, the organisers will conduct the programme under open-air conditions at the alternative site. The decision removes the damaged dome from the event plan and shifts the immediate focus to preparing the new venue for performances and public attendance.

The event is expected to feature Kirtidan Gadhvi’s performances, with participants from Ahmedabad and Surat attending the revised programme. The organisers have presented the open ground as the alternative arrangement for the nine-day event, while the published report does not provide further details on crowd-control measures, structural inspections, emergency access, seating or weather contingencies at Gopal Farm.

The next scheduled milestone is the start of the rescheduled Parampara Garba programme at Gopal Farm on October 12. The event is expected to continue at the open venue until October 20, according to the revised schedule announced by the organisers.
