Pune Car Stunts Trigger Police Case After Kelgaon Reel Shoot

Pune car stunts allegedly filmed on a public road in Kelgaon

Alandi police have registered a case against eight people after a group allegedly performed dangerous car stunts on a public road in Kelgaon, in Pune district’s Khed taluka, while filming a social media reel. Police have seized the vehicle allegedly used in the stunts and are investigating the incident.

According to the report by Pune Mirror, the reel was made to celebrate the purchase of a new four-wheeler by Mahesh Balakrishna Madke, a resident of Gopalpura in Alandi. Madke allegedly bought the vehicle on October 7, 2026, after which the group travelled to Kelgaon to record footage for the social media video.

Police allege that the vehicles were driven recklessly on a public road and that the group carried out risky manoeuvres, including repeatedly spinning the car in circles. Such activity, according to the police complaint, posed a risk to other road users as well as to the people involved in filming the reel.

The case also includes an allegation related to unauthorised drone filming. Police said the footage was recorded using a drone without obtaining the required prior permission from the authorities. The complaint states that the alleged drone operation violated preventive orders issued by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Joint Commissioner of Police.

Those named in the case include Madke, reel creator Pratik Shinde of Baramati, Vishal Satare and Yash Mungase, along with four other people. The report does not specify the sections under which the case was registered.

The incident places attention on the way public roads are increasingly being used as informal filming locations for social media content. While the police action in this case concerns alleged conduct on a specific road in Kelgaon, the central issue is the use of shared public space for activities that can expose motorists, pedestrians and participants to avoidable danger.

A vehicle being seized gives investigators control over an alleged piece of evidence while the case proceeds. The police will determine the circumstances of the filming, identify the roles played by the eight people named in the complaint and examine the alleged use of the drone. The report does not state whether anyone was injured or whether other vehicles were affected during the alleged stunts.

Alandi police are continuing the investigation. Further action will depend on the evidence collected in relation to the alleged dangerous driving, the filming activity and the claimed violation of preventive orders.
