The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority has started the tender process for the 74.5-kilometre Ganga Link Expressway, a project designed to connect the Yamuna Expressway with the Ganga Expressway and improve access from Western Uttar Pradesh to Noida International Airport.
The proposed route will run from the Siyana area of Bulandshahr to an interchange near the Film City on the Yamuna Expressway. The interchange is planned at kilometre 24.8 of the Yamuna Expressway. The project is expected to cost more than Rs 8,000 crore and will be 120 metres wide.
The development will create a direct road connection between two major expressway corridors in Uttar Pradesh. According to the report, the link is intended to improve connectivity for districts in Western Uttar Pradesh, including access for passengers and cargo travelling to and from Noida International Airport.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has completed the purchase of 93% of the land required within its notified area for the link expressway. Beyond the YEIDA boundary, land acquisition is being handled by UPEIDA, which has completed the acquisition of 75% of the required land, according to the report.
The project includes a plan to build an elevated section beyond the YEIDA area. Land is being purchased across eight villages in Gautam Buddh Nagar and 48 villages in Bulandshahr for the proposed alignment and associated works. The scale of the land requirement reflects the width of the planned corridor and the need to integrate it with the existing expressway network.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, the chief executive officer of YEIDA, said the tender process for construction had begun and that work was expected to start soon. The tender stage will determine the agencies responsible for executing the project and allow construction activity to proceed once the remaining land and project formalities are completed.
The proposed link is being developed as part of the wider road network around the Noida airport region. Its connection with the Yamuna Expressway near Film City is expected to provide a direct approach from the airport side towards Bulandshahr and the Ganga Expressway corridor. The project’s stated transport purpose is to make passenger and cargo movement easier between the airport and districts across Western Uttar Pradesh.
The immediate implementation milestones are the completion of the tender process, finalisation of construction agencies and acquisition of the remaining land under the respective authorities. The authorities have not provided a construction completion date in the supplied report.
