Pune-Nagpur special trains will provide four additional unreserved services between Pune and Nagpur from October 19 to 22 to accommodate passengers travelling for Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, Central Railway has announced. Two trains will depart from Pune and two return services will operate from Nagpur during the period.
Train 01215 will leave Pune at 2.50 pm on October 19 and October 21, reaching Nagpur at 7.30 am the following day. The return service, train 01216, will depart from Nagpur at 11 pm on October 20 and October 22, arriving in Pune at 4.20 pm the next day.
The additional services are intended to manage increased demand linked to Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, an annual observance associated with Dr B R Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism along with around six lakh followers. The occasion draws large numbers of visitors to Nagpur, placing additional pressure on available rail services and travel capacity.
Both trains will operate with 18 coaches. Each rake will include 16 general second-class or sleeper-class coaches and two guard-cum-luggage vans. All passenger coaches will be available for unreserved travel, allowing passengers to board without reserved berths subject to available capacity.
On the Pune-Nagpur journey, the trains will stop at Daund Chord Line, Ahilyanagar, Belapur, Kopargaon, Ankai, Manmad, Chalisgaon, Pachora, Jalgaon, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Shegaon, Akola, Murtizapur, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon, Wardha and Ajni before reaching Nagpur. The number of stops connects the service to several towns and cities across Maharashtra and provides additional boarding points for passengers travelling to the event.
Passengers can purchase tickets through the Unreserved Ticketing System mobile application or at railway booking counters. Central Railway has said that regular fares applicable to Superfast, Mail and Express trains will be charged for the services.
The scheduling gives passengers separate outbound and return options across four consecutive dates. Travellers leaving Pune can use the October 19 or October 21 services, while return journeys from Nagpur are scheduled for October 20 and October 22. Since the trains are unreserved, passengers have been advised to check the latest schedule and ticketing details before beginning their journey.
