The Solapur railway division has arranged four special trains between Bengaluru Cantonment and Bidar to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the Dasara festival, with services scheduled on October 9, 10, 16 and 17.
Train No. 06589, the Bengaluru Cantonment–Bidar special, will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 11pm on October 9 and 16. It will reach Bidar at 2.15pm the following day, according to the announcement reported by Prajavani.
The return service, Train No. 06590, will depart from Bidar at 4pm on October 10 and 17 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 9.45am the next morning. The additional services are intended to provide more rail capacity during the festival travel period.
The trains will stop at Humnabad, Kalaburagi, Shahabad, Wadi, Yadgir, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Hindupur and Yelahanka. The route connects Bengaluru and Bidar while also serving major towns and railway junctions across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-linked sections of the network.
Each special train will have one AC II-Tier coach, three AC III-Tier coaches, 10 Sleeper Class coaches, three General Second Class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans. The composition provides reserved and unreserved options for passengers travelling on the festival dates, while the luggage-cum-brake vans will support the movement of passenger baggage.
The additional services come as festival travel places greater pressure on regular railway capacity. For passengers travelling between Bengaluru, Bidar and the intermediate stations, the special trains offer extra departures on the specified dates rather than a change to the regular timetable.
Tickets can be booked through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website, www.irctc.co.in, and the RailOne mobile application. Passengers will need to check the applicable availability and booking status for their preferred date and class before travelling.
The special train schedule currently covers departures from Bengaluru Cantonment on October 9 and 16, and return departures from Bidar on October 10 and 17. The railway announcement did not provide details of additional services beyond these four scheduled trains.
