Gujarat Kutch Accident Kills 7 Workers Inside Renewable Energy Park

Emergency response at a renewable energy park near Khavda after a Gujarat Kutch accident.

At least seven workers were killed and more than 20 injured after a truck collided head-on with a Bolero Camper pickup truck inside a renewable energy park near Khavda in Gujarat’s Kutch district early on Friday, police said.

The accident took place between 3am and 4am within the sprawling clean energy installation. All the victims were travelling in the pickup truck, according to MB Chavda, a sub-inspector at Khavda police station, who spoke to news agency PTI.

The collision left the pickup truck severely damaged and trapped seven workers inside the wreckage. Police said the workers were removed with the help of a crane, but all seven died in the accident. More than 20 other injured workers were transported to hospital by ambulance.

According to the police account, the truck and the Bolero Camper were travelling in opposite directions when they collided. The available details do not specify the identities of the deceased or injured workers, the condition of the truck driver, or the hospitals where the injured were admitted.

The crash has raised questions about safety and traffic management within a large renewable energy development, where workers and heavy vehicles operate across extensive internal roads and construction or installation zones. Police have launched an investigation and are examining whether negligence contributed to the collision.

Khavda, in Kutch district, is the location of a major renewable energy park involving large-scale clean energy infrastructure. The accident occurred inside the park rather than on a public highway, making the investigation’s examination of internal vehicle movement, operating conditions and responsibility central to establishing how the collision happened.

Police have not yet announced any findings from the investigation or identified the specific cause of the crash. Further details are expected as authorities continue examining the accident and recording statements from those involved.
