Noida Airport Moves Closer to Air Taxi Trials With New MoU

Noida airport air taxi concept with an electric vertical aircraft near a proposed vertiport.

Noida International Airport has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ubifly Technologies Private Limited, also known as the ePlane Company, to prepare infrastructure and operating systems for a future air-taxi service, including vertiports and charging stations.

Under the agreement with Yamuna International Airport Limited, the airport operator, space will be identified within the airport परिसर for testing the service. The ePlane Company will work on the infrastructure, safety regulations and operational arrangements required for air-taxi operations using its E200X electric aircraft.

The E200X is designed to take off and land vertically like a helicopter. The agreement provides for the development of a vertiport and charging facilities at the airport. Noida International Airport will also make the necessary changes to its standard operating procedures for the planned operations.

The proposed service is still at the preparation and testing stage. The ePlane Company will work to secure approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other relevant agencies. According to the company, the operating system will first be tested using drones, followed by plans for flights involving a piloted E200X aircraft.

The company recently displayed a full-size PT-01 prototype of the E200X publicly, while ground tests are currently under way. Dr Satyanarayan Chakraborty, the company’s founder and director, said that bringing an electric air taxi into operation would require ground infrastructure, a regulatory framework and operating procedures to be developed in parallel.

The proposed air-taxi arrangement would cover more than airport-to-airport travel. The plans also refer to short-distance journeys within the city and an emergency air-ambulance service in the future. The supplied report does not specify a launch date, fares, routes or the number of aircraft planned for passenger operations.

The airport is also set to gain a conventional domestic connection. IndiGo has announced that it will begin daily flights between Noida and Udaipur from October 25. The airline said flights from Noida would depart at 1.30 pm, while the return service from Udaipur would leave at 6.20 pm.

IndiGo has separately announced daily flights between Navi Mumbai and Udaipur from November 15. The airline said Udaipur received 2 million domestic tourists and 160,000 international tourists in 2025. The next milestones for the air-taxi proposal are the completion of ground tests, drone-based operational trials and regulatory approvals before any piloted service can begin.
