Noida airport air taxi plans have moved forward with an agreement to develop the infrastructure, safety procedures and operating systems needed for electric vertical take-off and landing flights. Yamuṇa International Airport Limited (YIAPL) and Ubifly Technologies Private Limited, known as The ePlane Company, signed a memorandum of understanding for the proposed service on Thursday.
Under the agreement, space will be identified within the Noida International Airport premises for testing, while a vertiport and charging station will be developed for air-taxi operations. The airport will also make the required changes to its standard operating procedures. The proposed service is intended to connect the airport with other airports, support short-distance travel within the city and eventually provide emergency air-ambulance services.
The ePlane Company plans to use its E200X electric aircraft for the service. The aircraft is designed to take off and land vertically, in a manner similar to a helicopter. Before piloted flights are considered, the company will test the operating arrangements using drones, according to the report. The company is also working on aircraft testing and the permissions required from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other relevant agencies.
The full-scale PT-01 prototype of the E200X was recently displayed publicly and is currently undergoing ground tests. The agreement places infrastructure development and regulatory preparation alongside aircraft testing, rather than treating the aircraft as a standalone technology project. Dr Satyanarayan Chakraborty, founder and director of The ePlane Company, said that bringing an electric air taxi into operation would require the parallel development of ground infrastructure, a regulatory framework and operating procedures.
The proposed arrangement means that the service cannot begin solely on the basis of the memorandum. Testing, changes to airport procedures and approvals from aviation authorities remain necessary before passenger operations can be introduced. The source report does not specify a launch date for the air-taxi service.
Separately, IndiGo has announced a daily flight between Noida International Airport and Udaipur from October 25. The airline said the Noida-Udaipur flight will depart at 1.30 pm, while the return flight from Udaipur will leave at 6.20 pm. IndiGo has also announced a daily Udaipur service from Navi Mumbai International Airport from November 15.
The airline cited Udaipur’s visitor numbers while announcing the route, stating that the city received 2 million domestic tourists and 160,000 foreign tourists in 2025. The new connection will add a direct air link between Noida and the Rajasthan tourist destination, while the air-taxi agreement begins work on a separate short-distance electric aviation network at the airport. The next milestones for the proposed air taxi will be aircraft and drone testing, infrastructure development and regulatory approvals.
