Nana Patekar Funeral Arrangements Trigger Pune Administration Rush

Nana Patekar funeral arrangements at the Nanawadi farmhouse area in Donje, Pune

Nana Patekar funeral arrangements began at the Nanawadi farmhouse in Donje, near Sinhagad, on Thursday morning as Pune district officials, police, public works teams and civic workers prepared the site and surrounding roads for the final rites.

The arrangements were undertaken in accordance with the actor’s reported final wishes and the decision of his family. Officials and employees began arriving at the farmhouse area from around 9 am, while admirers from Pune city and other parts of the district started travelling towards Donje and Sinhagad for his final viewing.

Pune district police superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill, Haveli sub-divisional officer Dr Yashwant Mane, tehsildar Archana Nikam and Public Works Department sub-engineer D. J. Patil were among the officials present at the location. Gill inspected the proposed funeral site and issued instructions regarding the arrangements, according to the report by Sakal.

The administration undertook cleaning and site preparation at the location. A JCB, tractors, a roller and workers were deployed to ready the area within a few hours. Under the supervision of the Public Works Department, officials began constructing a 20-by-20-foot platform for the funeral rites.

The platform was prepared using raised cement blocks, with murum placed between them. Large and fine aggregate were then added to strengthen the surface. The work was carried out with the help of machinery, allowing the basic structure to be completed within a few hours, the report said.

The operation also extended beyond the farmhouse. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s health department cleaned roads and areas from beyond Khadakwasla village through Gorhe Budruk, Donje and Paigudewadi. Employees of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority were also present in the area.

The movement of admirers towards Donje created a larger public-management task for the authorities. People from Pune city and different parts of the district travelled to the Nanawadi area to pay their respects to the actor. The report described an atmosphere of mourning in the Paigudewadi area, with funeral preparations taking place alongside the gathering of visitors.

The response brought several public agencies into a single, time-sensitive operation: police for security and crowd management, district officials for coordination, the Public Works Department for site preparation, the municipal health department for sanitation and the regional development authority for field support. The report did not provide details of a formal traffic diversion plan, attendance limits or the final timing of the funeral rites.

The immediate arrangements were focused on preparing the funeral site and maintaining cleanliness on the access routes leading to Donje and the Nanawadi farmhouse. Further official updates on the completion of the rites and crowd-management measures were not included in the report.
