The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 5,261 special buses from October 16 to 25 to handle the expected Dussehra passenger rush, with services connecting districts across Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The special services are being arranged for the festival travel period, when demand for intercity transport typically rises as passengers travel between major cities and their home districts. APSRTC officials said the buses would operate between various districts in Andhra Pradesh and important cities in the state and neighbouring states.
Hyderabad will receive the largest allocation among the destinations listed by APSRTC, with 1,186 special buses planned. The corporation has assigned 440 buses for Visakhapatnam, 475 for Bengaluru, 153 for Chennai, 247 for Tirupati and 347 for Rajahmundry.
The allocations indicate the scale of the seasonal travel network linking Andhra Pradesh with major employment, education and commercial centres. Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai are key destinations for passengers travelling from Andhra Pradesh, while Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Rajahmundry serve as important intra-state and regional hubs.
APSRTC has also opened advance reservations for the special services. Passengers can book tickets through the corporation’s official website or mobile application, allowing travellers to reserve seats before the festival period begins.
The corporation’s decision adds scheduled capacity during a period when regular services are expected to face higher demand. The special buses will run for 10 days, from October 16 to October 25, covering the main Dussehra travel window identified by APSRTC.
The announcement places advance booking and destination-wise deployment at the centre of the travel plan. Passengers planning journeys to or from Andhra Pradesh during the festival period can check availability and reserve seats through APSRTC’s official digital booking channels.
