Hyderabad will host an air show on December 9 as part of the Grand Raksha Expo, which is being organised alongside the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said while reviewing preparations for the event with senior officials on Thursday.
The review covered participation by defence and aerospace companies, infrastructure, security arrangements, publicity and other operational requirements. Jaju directed departments to ensure comprehensive preparations for the expo, which is intended to showcase Telangana’s capabilities in the defence and aerospace sectors.
The Chief Secretary said nearly 30 per cent of India’s defence and aerospace industries were based in Hyderabad, describing the city as a major hub for the sectors. According to the report, the expo is expected to provide a platform for displaying industry capabilities, promoting sectoral growth and attracting investments to Telangana.
Jaju instructed officials to invite leading national and international defence, aerospace and arms manufacturing companies to participate. The event is also expected to include public and private sector organisations, industry bodies and micro, small and medium enterprises. FICCI, Assocham, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers and MSMEs were among the stakeholders whose participation was discussed.
Organisations including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited are expected to showcase their products at the expo. The programme will include business interactions, buyer-seller meetings, marketing opportunities, memorandums of understanding, startup collaborations and seminars, the report said.
Preparatory outreach will include a roadshow in Hyderabad on October 24 and another in Delhi on October 29. These events are intended to promote the expo and attract companies and institutional participants ahead of the December programme.
The preparations also extend beyond the expo venue. Jaju noted that an airfield strip was being developed in Adilabad, although the report did not specify whether it would be used for the Hyderabad air show or another aviation-related purpose. The Chief Secretary also directed officials to invite directors general of police from all states, citing the ongoing modernisation of police and paramilitary forces across the country.
The event will bring together defence manufacturers, aerospace companies, government agencies, industry associations, startups and potential buyers. The administration’s preparations are focused on coordinating participation, security, infrastructure and business programming before the expo and air show take place on December 9.
