Thiruvananthapuram’s voter enrolment drive will run from October 15 to 31, allowing eligible residents to register for the first time, correct errors in the electoral roll and request deletions, district collector and district election officer Anju K S said.
The campaign will focus on people who are not currently enrolled and those who will turn 18 by January 1, 2027. Forms will be distributed during the drive, while digital help desks will operate at village offices to assist applicants with the process.
Applicants will now need to submit only Form 6 for new enrolment. The additional declaration form that was previously required has been discontinued, according to the information reported by the Times of India. Applications can also be submitted online through the Election Commission’s website or the ECINet mobile application.
Applicants must provide one of the 12 documents approved by the Election Commission as proof of identity, age, address and permanent residence. Those using Aadhaar as a document must submit one additional approved document. Applicants have also been asked to provide the EPIC number of a family member or neighbour who is already included in the electoral roll.
The process will include field-level verification. Booth level officers will subsequently conduct house visits to verify applications, linking the digital and offline parts of the enrolment process with physical checks at applicants’ residences.
The campaign is intended to address multiple types of electoral-roll issues rather than only new registrations. Residents who find errors in their details can seek corrections, while requests for deletion will allow the roll to be updated where names need to be removed. The announcement did not specify the number of applications expected during the district-wide drive.
A separate “Campus to Booth” enrolment campaign will be conducted from November 2 to 7 in colleges and higher secondary schools. It will operate under the tagline “Step Forward, Get Counted”, with electoral literacy clubs organising awareness programmes to encourage student participation.
The two campaigns place particular emphasis on young and first-time voters, including students and residents approaching the age of eligibility. The district administration has not announced a separate deadline beyond the October 15–31 drive for general enrolment or the November 2–7 campus campaign, according to the report.
