APSRTC Adds 5,261 Special Buses to Ease Dussehra Travel Rush

APSRTC special buses lined up for Dussehra travel operations in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 5,261 special buses from October 16 to 25 to manage the expected Dussehra passenger rush across Andhra Pradesh and key cities in neighbouring states.

According to APSRTC officials, the services will connect various districts and important cities in Andhra Pradesh with Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. The temporary expansion is intended to provide additional intercity capacity during the festival travel period.

Hyderabad will receive the largest allocation, with 1,186 special buses scheduled to operate during the period. APSRTC has also planned 440 services for Visakhapatnam, 475 for Bengaluru, 153 for Chennai, 247 for Tirupati and 347 for Rajahmundry.

The deployment covers routes linking Andhra Pradesh districts with major urban destinations that typically see increased passenger movement during Dussehra. The corporation has not provided a route-wise timetable or details of departure frequencies in the announcement.

Passengers can reserve seats on the special buses in advance through the APSRTC official website or mobile application, according to the corporation. Advance booking is intended to help travellers plan journeys before the festival period begins.

The announcement places Hyderabad and Bengaluru among the most significant destinations in APSRTC’s special-service plan, while services to Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Tirupati and Rajahmundry will address additional intercity travel demand. The special operations are scheduled to continue until October 25.
