IndiGo will begin a new daily flight service between Bhubaneswar and Pune from the 25th, giving passengers an additional direct air travel option between the Odisha capital and the Maharashtra city, according to the director of Bhubaneswar airport.
The service will operate every day of the week, the airport director said. The source report did not specify the flight number, departure and arrival timings, fares, aircraft type or the month associated with the 25th.
The new service is expected to expand travel options for passengers moving between Bhubaneswar and Pune for employment, education, business and other personal requirements. Pune is a major destination for workers, students and businesses from several parts of India, while Bhubaneswar serves as Odisha’s principal air transport hub.
At present, Air India Express also operates a service on the Bhubaneswar-Pune route, according to the report. IndiGo’s entry will therefore add another airline option on a route that already has scheduled connectivity. For passengers, the additional service may provide greater flexibility in choosing an airline and travel date, although the report does not state how the new flight will affect fares or seat capacity.
The announcement also adds to Bhubaneswar airport’s direct connectivity with a major western Indian urban centre. Air links between cities influence access to employment and education markets, business travel and the movement of visitors, but the supplied information does not provide passenger-volume data or details of any wider airport expansion plan.
The service has been announced by the airport authority through its director, while IndiGo is the airline that will operate it. Further operational details, including the schedule and booking information, were not included in the source report. The next confirmed milestone is the start of the daily Bhubaneswar-Pune service on the 25th.
