APSRTC Adds 5,261 Special Buses for Dussehra Travel Rush

APSRTC special buses lined up for Dussehra travel services in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 5,261 special buses from October 16 to 25 to meet the expected Dussehra passenger rush, with services linking districts across Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.

APSRTC officials said the additional services will operate between various districts and important cities in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring urban centres. The deployment is intended to provide more travel options during the festival period, when demand for intercity bus services is expected to increase.

Hyderabad will receive the largest allocation among the destinations listed by the corporation, with 1,186 special buses planned. The schedule also includes 440 services for Visakhapatnam, 475 for Bengaluru, 153 for Chennai, 247 for Tirupati and 347 for Rajahmundry.

The deployment covers a 10-day period beginning October 16 and ending October 25. APSRTC has not provided, in the announcement, a route-by-route schedule or details of the departure points and timings for each special service. The corporation’s stated plan is to connect different districts and key cities during the festival travel period.

Passengers can reserve seats on the special buses in advance through the APSRTC official website or its mobile application, according to APSRTC officials. Advance booking is intended to allow travellers to plan journeys before the festival rush, although the announcement does not specify the opening date for reservations or whether fares will differ from regular services.

The allocation indicates the scale of additional road-based passenger movement expected between Andhra Pradesh and major neighbouring city destinations during Dussehra. Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai are important intercity links for residents travelling from Andhra Pradesh, while Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Rajahmundry are among the destinations receiving dedicated special-service allocations.

The corporation’s announcement provides the total number of special buses and destination-wise allocations but does not state how many daily trips each route will receive. It also does not specify whether the services will be operated uniformly throughout the October 16-25 period or adjusted according to passenger demand. Travellers will need to check the APSRTC website or mobile application for booking availability and service details before making their journeys.
